Going Home

The tree
sighs beneath
the laborer痴
hand

But I am
safely hidden
behind leaves,
out of reach.

The others
call from
the bucket
on his arm,

Do not
stay behind,
lift your
voice.

In silence
I watch
them die
one by one,

Innocents
smothered
by their need
for love.

After
the harvest,
I sing a
simple song

To please
the birds
and slowly
passing moon.

Then one day
they find me,
fallen to
the ground.

Wearing life痴
bright colors,
I am going
home.

In fragrant
velvet slippers,
I am going
home.
